How we work

Platform, integrations and data protection

A hosted service on the Microsoft data stack. Trusts don't need to build or run infrastructure.

Platform

Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server and Power BI — the platform most trusts already license and govern. IDS delivers it as a hosted service, so trusts don't need to build or run any infrastructure.

Integrations

  • Bromcom — the primary MIS integration.
  • SIMS — supported.

Onboarding

  1. Data assessment. We review your trust's Bromcom data and how it is recorded across your schools.
  2. Bromcom set-up recommendations. We advise on how to set up Bromcom to get the best results from the reporting.
  3. Automatic feeds. Data is then taken automatically from Bromcom's Vision OData API for the trust, so reports stay up to date without manual exports.

Data protection

  • Processing under UK GDPR.
  • IDS acts as a data processor for each trust, under a data processing agreement.
  • Data hosted in Microsoft's UK regions.
  • Role-based access at trust, school and staff level.
  • Pupil data is used for nothing other than the trust's own reporting.

This website's own privacy notice covers the contact form only. Pupil data processed in the education service is governed by each trust's data processing agreement.

Methodology updates

Accountability measures change most years. Measures are updated each year when the DfE publishes new technical guidance, so trusts don't have to track the changes themselves.
